Relationships fail for various reasons, but when your relationship fails, should the ex be off limits? Is there an unspoken rule or code of ethics that one should follow after a breakup? Does it make you look like a complete lunatic when you bash your ex to others, or is it okay to vent?
Comedian, Russell Brand spoke out recently during a performance at London’s Soho Theatre about his intimate relationship with ex-wife and singer, Katy Perry. During the act he supposedly said, “When I got divorced, I considered becoming a monk. When you’re a monk, you’re not allowed to have sex with anyone. When you’re married, it’s one person. That’s one more than a monk. It’s not that different. I’d be having sex thinking, ‘Think of anyone, anyone else.'”
Is this in poor taste or was he within his own right to make such a statement? Do you feel bad for Katy? Well, we do! In a previous interview with Vogue Magazine Katy shared her sentiments about his sense of humor, “[He was] hysterical in some ways. Until he started making jokes about me and he didn’t know I was in the audience, because I had come to surprise him at one of his shows.”
Russell’s comments are down right despicable, but is dissing your ex only wrong when your ex happens to be a celebrity? People disrespect their exes everyday. In fact, there are several reality shows about it airing on television now.
We want to hear from you. Is dissing your ex okay? Share your thoughts and comments below.
