Most celeb relationships fail because the time apart and conflicting schedules put too much stress on the relationship. Skype is not enough. It takes both parties being in the same place at the same time to grow a relationship. If you spend more time apart than together, the relationship will fail!
Part of being in the relationship is participating in the building stages: building from nothing to something. If you’re not willing to put in the work (or can’t), then you don’t need to be in a relationship.
Rule #4 – KEEP YOUR FRIENDS AT BAY
The last thing you want and need is a quote in US Magazine from your best friend about your blossoming relationship. It is perfectly fine to share news about your new guy or girl, but the best way to maintain your privacy is to keep your friends at bay. This rule can be applied to any relationship.
I am a firm believer that in order to have a successful relationship, you have to keep your friends out of your business. The more you share, the more input they will have on your relationship. That input starts to weigh in your decision making, and then guess what, their opinions become yours, and your relationship starts to suffer because of them!
Keep comments about your relationship at a minimum. Good friends won’t put your business “in the streets,” but you won’t know you have bad friends until The National Inquirer calls for comment.
Rule #5 – COMMUNICATE
I feel silly for even mentioning this, but sometimes it has to be said. The key to any relationship is communication. Being a celebrity couple is downright difficult, but you can make it if you communicate and be honest about what you really want and need.
*BONUS RULE* Rule #6 – DON’T TAKE HIM/HER FOR GRANTED
Doing little things to show him/her you care while apart is essential. Never take your guy or girl for granted. Send flowers, write a letter, mail a card. Any romantic gesture that says, “I am thinking about you” will keep the love flowing. Remember, there is always someone else who is willing to show them how special they are.
Now, Kanye and Kim have broken 2 of the rules thus far, so the jury is still out on whether this “relationship” will last. We shall see won’t we. I really hope Kim has learned from the mess she made with Kris…please say she has because she seems like a sweety.
These rules don’t just apply to celebs, but can easily apply to a busy professional who has trouble balancing their work life with their personal. Either way, I hope it gives you some insight.
